Public life affected as a result of banda in the east

Kakarvitta (Jhapa), Aug 6: Daily life in the eastern region has been affected today as a result of the banda or general strike called by the Limbuwan State Council.

The Council has been observing Saun 22 in the Lunar calendar as a ‘black day’ for what it calls the day when King Prithivi Narayan Shah annexed the Limbuwan state in course of unification of the modern state of Nepal. The banda was organized to mark the same.

As a result, public transportation service has come to a halt in the districts in the eastern region including Jhapa, Ilam, Sunsari, Morang, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha among others. RSS
