Fourth Nagarkot Festival commences
BHAKTAPUR, Jan 28: Fourth Nagarkot Festival commenced yesterday at Shanti Danda, Nagarkot under the banner ‘Natural Heritage Art, Culture, Communal Unity and Ecotourism Development Nagarkot’s Progress’.
The festival will aim to conserve art, culture and promote tourism in Bhaktapur district. Nagarkot’s local attires, delicacies, agriculture, education and industrial products will be showcased in about 50 stalls the festival, informed the Organizing Committee Chairman Dhan Bahadur Lama.
The festival which runs for three days is organized by Shanti Park Conservation and Management Committee, District Development Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Municipality.
On the occasion, Minister for Land Reform and Management, Bikram Pandey, unveiled Lord Buddha’s statue built at a cost of Rs 15 million and launched the Nagarkot Shanti Park spread over 80 ropanis of land at Nagarkot’s Shanti hill.
A master plan of an estimated Rs 260 million is currently underway to build the Shanti Park with viewing tower, meditation and yoga center and picnic spots, according to Coordinator Lama. RSS
