UPF warns nationwide demonstration against govt’s decision to remove older vehicles

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: United Patriot Front (UPF) has warned to start nationwide demonstration from February 13 against the government’s decision to remove vehicles that are older than 20 years if the government does not receive their issues seriously.

During a joint press conference organized by National Democratic Trade Union Association (Democratic) NDTUA today at the Reporters’ Club Nepal the Front issuing a press release drew government’s attraction towards the negative impacts it could result on the families of people involved in transportation business.

The press release reads, the government is making transportation labors refuse in their own country by taking away their means to earn bread. The political leaders have risked lives of thousands of people running after commission greed.

The press release has objected the government’s idea of forcing time criteria on old vehicles to remove and sell them in cheap price while buying new ones from foreign companies in billions of rupees.

The release further states that the transportation entrepreneurs were thoughtful about the impacts like pollution old vehicles have on environment and appealed the government to look for alternative solution to putting the lives of families of transport entrepreneurs, mechanics, vehicle staffs in danger.
