KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The school management committee of Amar Jyoti Higher Secondary School of Gorkha has warned to start hunger strike stating that the reconstruction work of school was stranded.

Chairperson of the school management committee Prakash Neupane speaking during a press conference organized at the Reporters’ Club Nepal today fussed over Indian Embassy’s dillydallying on reconstructing work of the school. He said, “Of the promised 35 roomed building, only 19 roomed building was constructed. But the constructed 19 roomed building was totally damaged in the 2015 April earthquake before it was handed to the school management committee.”

“Currently we are conducting the teaching learning activities building a temporary learning center. The Embassy is dillydallying the reconstructing work. If the Embassy does not start its reconstructing work before March 5, we will be compelled to start hunger strike in front of Indian Embassy.” He added.

He also asked the Indian Embassy to either withdraw form the reconstruction work or start it within few days. “There are other organizations interested in rebuilding the school structure.” He said.

Also General secretary of PABSON and former student of Amar Jyoti School Rajendra Baniya expressed his disappointment that the school that produced great men like Dr. Baburam Bhattrai and Dr. Upendra Devkota was in critical condition.
