Stakeholders stress on joint effort for promoting tourism

POKHARA, Feb 28: Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Western Regional Association’s 22nd general assembly held in Pokhara on Monday stressed on a joint effort among the concerned stakeholders for tourism sector’s overall development.

The speakers at the program noted that Nepal remains a country with unbound possibilities in tourism sector and called for making tourism related laws and regulations ‘tourism friendly’.

Regional Administrator, Yam Kumari Khatiwada, stressed on joint effort from tourism entrepreneurs, associations and government authorities for overall development of the tourism sector.

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) CEO, Deepak Raj Joshi, took the occasion to bring into relief the fact that many tourism destinations in the country remained untapped due to lack of publicity. Joshi vehemently called for publicity and promotion of such places.

The NTB Chief was of the opinion of establishing a travel mart as a necessary step forward for publicity of tourism destinations.

NATTA Western Regional Association Chairman, Dilli Prasad Gautam, said Nepal’s tourism sector was gradually returning to its earlier state following a setback from massive earthquake and blockade. He said the banks’ decision to increase the interest rate had hurt the tourism entrepreneurs in such a scenario.

NATTA Chairman, Madhusudan Acharya, spoke of the necessity to prioritize the programmes such as travel mart to promote Nepal’s tourism in the world market. RSS
