Nepali businesspersons based in India to invest Rs 1 billion in Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 5: Nepali businesspersons in India have pledged to build a well-equipped resort at Bardiya National Park at the cost of Rs 1 billion under the Federation Everest Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FECCI).

Organizing a press conference at Reporters’ Club Nepal today FECCI shared the information. The FECCI representatives were in the Capital to take part in the recently-held Nepal Investment Summit.

Addressing the meet, FECCI President Yubraj Baral said Bardia has been prioritized for investment as the district gifted with natural beauty and a mixture of art and cultures has a huge potential for tourism development.

He also informed that many resorts would be constructed in various 25 places near Bardiya. The motive aims to boost development in local tourism sector by utilizing local resources and local human resources, he said, adding that the size of the investment would be increased to Rs 5 billion within next five years.

FECCI General Secretary Mohan Karki said the the political instability in Nepal would put the investment at risk and urged the government should create an investment friendly environment in Nepal as many Nepalese investors wanted to invest in various sectors in Nepal. He also argued for proper utilization of abundant resources available in Nepal for improving Nepal’s economy.
