4500 chicken killed after bird flu confirmed in Itahari

ITAHARI, March 11: As high as 4500 chicken were destroyed after the bird flu outbreak was confirmed in Pathibhara Poultry located at Khanar in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-12, Sunsari on Friday.

Officials on Thursday confirmed Bird flu in the poultry farm owned by Milan Chapagain, Sanjay Gautam, Bhola Adhikari and Bishnu Pandey after a large number of chickens died one after another.

The chicken were destroyed after a meeting presided over by Sunsari’s Chief District Officer Gopal Prasad Parajuli took a decision to this effect, Dr Bijayanath Yadav of District Livestock Office said.
Likewise, other poultries kept in the surroundings were also destroyed by sealing the near area of 200 metres.

Dr Yadav said that the poultry farmers would be given Rs 100 per chick in compensation. RSS
