UML to field Bidya Sundar Shakya for Kathmandu Mayor
KATHMANDU, May 2: The main opposition CPN-UML has fixed Bidya Sundar Shakya as the candidate for the post of mayor in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
A meeting of top leaders of UML on Tuesday selected Shakya as the candidate. He is the former ward chairman of the metropolitan city and secretary of the party’s Kathmandu District Committee.
Shakya will be supported from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party in exchange for UML’s support to the Deputy-mayor candidate Rajaram Shrestha of RPP.
RPP and UML have agreed to form election-alliance in the upcoming local level election in Kathmandu and Lalitpur.
UML has also fielded Hari Krishna Byanjankar as the candidate for the post of mayor in Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
