Election candidate dies due to lightning strike

CHITWAN, May 9: A candidate for the May 14 elections was killed due to a lightning strike at Kalika Municipality-11 in the district today morning, police said.

A thunderbolt left Siphal Praja unconscious, who later breathed his last on the way to College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur, local people said.

A preliminary report shows that Praja might have died of a heart attack caused by the lightning strike, police said.

Praja, 39, had filed his candidacy from CPN (Maoist Center) for a ward member of the municipality. RSS
