People throng PM-elect Deuba’s residence to congratulate him

KATHMANDU, June 7: Nepali Congress leaders, workers and general people have thronged the private residence of newly elected Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at Budhanilkantha since this morning to congratulate him on his election as the 40th Prime Minister.

The Legislature-Parliament on Tuesday elected Deuba as the new Prime Minister through a voting based on majority system.

Former Chief Secretary, former secretaries, government employees, party lawmakers, leaders, cadres and well wishers reached the newly elected PM’s residence. PM-elect Deuba is scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy at 2 pm today.

According to President of Nepal Press Union (NPU) Badri Sigdel, President Deuba is scheduled to lay wreath at the Martyrs Memorial at Lainchaur after taking oath of Office and Secrecy from the President. From Lainchaur, he will proceed to the party central office at BP Nagar, Sanepa to garland a bust of the Nepali Congress founding leader BP Koirala and then to assume office at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar.
