Madhes shutdown irks local people

MAHENDRANAGAR, June 29: People of Province-2 including Dhanusha have vented their ire for bearing the brunt of shutdown enforced by Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) in eight districts of Madhes.

The RJPN has been sticking to prevent elections in Madhes till constitution amendment. The agitating party on Wednesday had called for Madhes shutdown in protest of the elections when voting was taking place with high enthusiasm in 35 districts of Provinces 1, 5 and 7 under second phase local elections.

Local people turned tough to RJPN terming its move irrational for enforcing shutdown in eight districts of Madhes where election was not taking place on Wednesday.

The government has announced holding third phase of local elections in eight districts of Madhes.

The irate locals have flagged their comments through social media expressing disappointment over the act of frequently announcing banda in a way to panic people when the government had decided to hold the third phase of elections to onboard RJPN.

The social networking sites were abuzz with questions to RJPN leaders to justify the rationale of shutdowns.

Some of the social media users have articulated their anger noting RJPN cadres on one hand had fielded themselves as independent candidates in second round poll while on the other they are befooling people by announcing shutdown.

The banda enforced by RJPN has affected normal life in Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat and Saptari districts. RSS
