Three of 7 injured in bus accident die

CHITWAN, July 4: Three out of the seven people who sustained serious injuries when a passenger bus overturned on the Prithvi Highway at Chumlingtar, Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-3 at around 2.25 am today have died.

The victims include 32-year-old Raj Kumar Tharu of Kailali and his daughter of three months. Tharu is a police constable working at the Central Task Force, Kathmandu. Tharu and his infant daughter died on the way to Gajuri Hospital, according to police. Tharu’s wife is also among those critically injured in the accident.

Similarly, the bus driver, 40-year-old Dinesh Rana of Kailali, who was critically injured in the mishap, died. He was among the five injured who were first sent to Chhimkeshwari Hospital, Aaanbu Khaireni in Tanahun district for treatment. They were again sent to the Pokhara-based Gandaki Medical College for further treatment. The condition of three others is however normal.

The passenger bus (Na 6 Kha 2468) heading towards Dhangadhi from Kathmandu rammed the roadside and then overturned on the drain. Out of the 27 passengers travelling by the bus, 20 who did not sustain any injuries, have been sent to their destination by arranging them seats in other buses. RSS
