One international standard stadium in each province: Sports Minister
KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC has vowed to build at least one international standard football stadiums each of the seven provinces in the country.
Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Thursday, he stressed on the urgency to transform the Nepali Sports as per the federal set up and added, “I have already started working on initiatives of building one stadium each in all seven provinces.”
According to the Sports Minister, he is planning to build stadiums in major cities like Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Jhapa, Biratnagar, Janakpur and other cities.
On the occasion, Minister KC stating that the government is prioritizing to intensify the construction works of infrastructure in the sports sector, he promised to give top priority to renovate the earthquake damaged Dasharath Stadium. He further urged to intensify the preparations for South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in home ground.
He further said that there should not be over-politicization in the sports sector as it was means of recognizing the nation in international arena.
He further stressed the importance of including sports subjects in the school curriculum.
