proposal of public importance

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Lawmaker Dhanraj Gurung on Monday registered a proposal of public importance in the Legislature Parliament Secretariat demanding to replace the paper notes with e-currency within two years meant for corruption control.

Stating that the country cannot move ahead until corruption was controlled, Gurung said that corruption was pervasive including in politics, bureaucracy, commercial firms and other sectors and hence e-currency should be used to phase out the use of paper notes and thereby check corruption.

The e-currency ensures transparency in one’s income and expenses and helps establish a welfare state through corruption control, reads the proposal. Lawmaker Badri Prasad Pandey and Jiban Pariyar have seconded Gurung’s proposal.
