Health Insurance bill endorsed
KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The meeting today of the Legislature-Parliament passed unanimously the ‘Health Insurance Bill, 2074′.
Earlier tabling a proposal seeking deliberations on the bill, Health Minister Girirajmani Pokharel said that the bill would be fruitful in making free health services to the poor more effective.
Members of parliament also said during deliberations on the bill that it would lead to effectiveness in government health institutions’ service and to reach basic health services to the local level. As per the bill, every Nepali citizen will be entitled to the health insurance scheme.
Also today, the Legislature-Parliament held discussion on the ‘Language Commission Bill, 2073. Presenting the bill, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jitendra Narayan Dev said the Commission is expected to make recommendations to ensure that no citizen in the country feels discriminated on the basis of his/her language.
However, no decision could be taken on the bill and its related proposal as the meeting lacked quorum with only 90 present. The parliament will meet again at 1:00 pm tomorrow.
