NHRC to press for compensation in human rights violation case: Chair Sharma

POKHARA, Oct 30: Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Anupraj Sharma has said that the NHRC may come with any sorts of pressure-creating programs, seeking compensation to victim in the violation of human rights.

The NHRC would always be on the frontline to join rights activists against human rights violations committed by the State side or others, he said while inaugurating a two-day provincial conference on situations of rights of persons with physical disabilities organized in Pokhara by the NHRC regional office on Monday.

Pointing out the need for building disabled- friendly infrastructures across the country, he informed that a desk would be set up in the NHRC’s office premises to facilitate differently abled people to get their rights.

Similarly on the occasion, mayor of Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City, Man Bahadur GC, pledged to help address problems facing people with disabilities, while informing that his office would provide free-service to them.

Present in the conference were Chief District Officer Taranath Adhikari, Chairman of the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal Sudarshan Subedi, Chief of the Women and Children Office Laxmi GC, and President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kaski Dipendra Shrestha among others. RSS
