World Blood Donor Day programs begins

KATHMANDU, June 8: Various organizations including the main organizer, Blood Donors Association Nepal is organizing various programs throughout this week on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. The World Blood Donor Day falls on June 14.

The programs will be aimed that raising public awareness on the significance of blood donation. The programs are scheduled for June 8 to 14.

Accordingly, an extensive blood donation program cum interaction on negative blood group is planned for Saturday. A youth meet on blood donation will be held on June 10, inter-school oratory contest will be organized on June 11 followed by an inter-school art competition on the theme of blood donation is taking place on June 12.

Similarly, a public awareness rally on blood donation will be held on June 13 followed by an extensive blood donation program, lamp lighting and the main celebration program on June 14.

Organizing a press conference at Reporters Club Nepal on Thursday, Ramesh Dhwaj Basnet, acting president of the association said that they will continue to make efforts to prevent a shortage of blood. The association has been working in the blood donation sector since 25 years.
