Online system in foreign employment sector within 20 days

KATHMANDU, June 27: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, has said that online system would be brought into implementation in all diplomatic missions, the Department of Foreign Employment, manpower agencies and concerned companies within next 20 days to make foreign employment systematic.

Responding to queries raised by lawmakers during the discussion on Appropriation Bill in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Bista said that the online system would be effective to curb cheating and anomaly seen in foreign employment sector.

He said necessary revision in laws is in final phase in order to make foreign employment safe, reliable and dignified and also declared that at least 100,000 people would get employment in the country within next year.

He added that an environment for creating immense opportunities of employment inside the country would be created to end the compulsion of foreign employment within five years.

Out of 11,093 complaints filed by migrant workers, 7,748 complaints were settled, added Minister Bista.

The Labour Minister said that a policy has been introduced to issue work permit from all seven provinces, adding that minimum wages of workers would be implemented from the beginning of the new fiscal year.

He said, “The government will not lag behind to take stern action to stop cheating and monopoly in the foreign employment sector.”

On the occasion, lawmakers Prem Suwal, Laxmi Chaudhary and Ram Bahadur Bista, sought more clarification in Minister Bista’s reply. RSS
