Trade and transit treaty protocol draft sent to China
KATHMANDU, June 28: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav has shared that a draft of the protocol to the Trade and Transit Treaty reached with China in 2016 has been prepared and sent for consideration of the Chinese government.
Responding to queries raised by MPs during deliberations on the appropriation bill at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he said that the two sides will hold bilateral talks on the draft in the second week of coming July.
It may be noted that Nepal and China had agreed to sign the protocol in July during the recent official visit to China by Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli. The Treaty was signed during the first premiership of Oli in 2016.
On a different note, the supplies Minister expressed the commitment to check inflation and make market monitoring effective. He also claimed that the public corporations in the country were sold in the past in the pretext of liberalization and privatization.
Parliamentarians Prem Suwal, Ram Bahadur Bista, Dibya Mani Rajbhandari, Ganga Chaudhary Satagauwa and Laxmi Chaudhary had sought additional clarification from Minister Yadav. RSS
