NAC’s Airbus A330-200 arrives in Kathmandu (in pictures)
KATHMANDU, June 28: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) welcomed its first long range Airbus A330-200 aircraft at Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday morning.
The Aircraft named Annapurna, touched down at TIA runway at 8:05 am.
The new aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, consists features a two class cabin configuration and a seats a total of 274 passengers (18 in business class and 256 in economy class). NAC ordered two 274 seater jets through Portuguese leasing company Hi Fly. The second jet is expected to arrive by end of July.
Nepal Airlines Corporation Managing Director Sugat Ratna Kansakar, Corporate Director Rabindra Shrestha and two nepali pilots reached France to take aircraft. However, two foreign pilots flew the aircraft to Kathmandu by placing eight hour journey.
After the arrival of new aircraft, brought at the cost of US$4,800,000, the corporation is expected to increase its business.
