Journalists should play positive role, says Minister Banskota

DAMAK, June 29: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota, said that positive role of journalists is to head the country towards the path of prosperity would be crucial.

Inaugurating the office of Journalists Forum at Damak, Jhapa, on Friday, Communication Minister Banskota said, “Taking the country towards prosperity is the responsibility of the country. But media should support the government to fulfill the target.”

He also pointed out the need of making the press sector more disciplined and systematic. ‘The government was serious to resolve the challenge seen in policy-level management of media,’ he added.

Expressing the belief that the country could make a stride soon if press sector would be made more responsible towards the country and society being trustworthy and professional, the Communication Minister said, “Now the media should be accountable towards common sentiments and feelings of the country.”

Minister Banskota said that the government was committed to resolve problems of media.
