Nine local levels in Jhapa at high risk of flood

JHAPA, July 3: Nine local levels in Jhapa district are at high risk of floods this monsoon.

The local levels which are at greater risk of flood are Jhapa, Bahradashi, Kachankabal, and Kamal rural municipalities, the Gaurigunj, Gauradaha and Shiva Satakshi municipalities as well as some localities of Bhadrapur and Kankai municipalities.

Focal person at Nepal Red Cross Society, Jhapa emergency operations center, Prakash Karki shared this information. According to him, ward number 1 and 2 of Bhadrapur municipality and some wards in Kankai municipality face greater risk of floods. He said that the south-western parts of the district are at higher risk.

Water volume in the rivers and streams flowing through the district has increased following three days of rainfall. Water level has increased in the Mechi, Kankai, Biring, Kamal, Baniyani and Tangting rivers. RSS
