Woman complaints of torture by family members

INARUWA, Aug 11: A woman of local Bhokraha Narsingh rural municipality-1 has accused her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law of subjecting her to extreme torture for a year for not bringing enough dowry.

Sanjila Khatun, daughter of Saraj Miya of Bhokraha Narsingh -1, had married Saddam Miya of Bhokraha Narsingh -5 one and half years back.

Khatun has filed a complaint with the police on Friday accusing her husband and parents-in-law of physically and mentally torturing her few months of her marriage for not bringing enough dowry.

She said that she was made to work the whole day at home but was neglected in food. Khatun also said that she was also frequently beaten in the evening by her husband and parents-in-law.

She is currently living with her parents. Khatun said she filed the complaint in the hope of getting justice. Khatun has no children from her marriage. She says her husband is seeking a divorce from her.
