Chitwan police arrest 12 for ‘suspicious’ activities

RATNANAGAR, Aug 14: The Chitwan police have arrested 12 people from different parts of the district on charge of their involvement in suspicious activities.
According to Superintendent of Police, Sushil Singh Rathaur, a police squad which was mobilized since the last night for security purposes took such a number of people from different areas under control.

Some of them had stones and lighters in their pockets, while some others were forcing people to shut down market, and some were held for doubtful conduct.

They all are under investigation and police are trying to find out whether they have connections with the Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav) involved in violent activities.

Normal life here remained affected today due to a banda announced by the party.
Public vehicles operating on short and long routes remained off the roads because of the banda.

Schools, academic institutions, main market areas, and factories and industries were closed. According to SP Rathaur, there is a report about the detection of a suspicious object at Bharatpur-based Rijal Chowk and a bomb disposal team has already been sent to the site. Security in the district has been beefed up and no untoward incident has been reported so far.

Meanwhile in Kailali, party cadre Chhabilal Oli from Sukkhad Bazar has been arrested by police as he was forcing people to close down the market. Oli serves as the party chief for Ghodaghadi Municipality.

As stated by District Police Office’s chief Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire, normal life remained affected while the transport, business and educational sectors were totally shut. RSS
