Prakanda

KATHMANDU, August 21: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Nepal Police to present spokesperson of Biplav led Nepal Communist Party Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma ‘Prakanda’ in the court within 24 hours.

Bishwakarma was arrested for his alleged involvement on donation drive from the business persons.

A single bench of Justice Ishwar Khatiwada on Monday issued such directive to present Bishwakarma within 24 hours along with the reasons to arrest him.
Birendra Bishwakarma had filed a writ petition on Sunday at the SC on behalf of leader Khadga Bahadur seeking his release arguing that the arrest was extrajudicial.

Earlier on Friday, a division bench of Justices Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Tej Bahadur KC had directed to release Bishwakarma at the presence of Chief Registrar of Supreme Court Rajan Bhattarai and President of Nepal Bar Association Sher Bahadur KC. However, Bishwakarma was arrested on the same night after the SC’s directive.

The Kathmandu Police had forwarded the legal action against leader Bishwakarma as per the Donation Act, 2030 BS for seeking Rs 70 million from the businesspersons. RSS
