One dies, five injured; Indefinite curfew clamped in Bhimdattanagar
BHIMDATTANAGAR, Aug 25: Sani Khuna, 14, of Bhimdattanagar died while five other agitators were injured in police firing at Traffic Chowk on Friday.
With the ongoing agitation taking nasty turns, the local administration has enforced indefinite curfew, effective from 8.00 pm Friday.
Iin this connection, Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur, Taranath Adhikari informed that the curfew was clamped until another notice.
A clash between the police and agitators ensued all of a sudden when the street-based demonstration grew violent in Bhimdattanagar on Friday evening.
According to Kanchanpur District Police Office sources, five people who were injured in the scuffle were rushed to Dhangadhi for further treatment after general medication at Mahakali Zonal Hospital.
Till now, the local administration and security agency remained silent about the incident of killing.
The protest which was getting normal till Friday afternoon had turned into a battle again, prompting administration to issue curfew order, said the Kanchanpur district administration office.
Earlier too, a curfew was clamped in riot-prone areas of the municipality on Thursday evening with the situation turning grim.
The locals had been intensifying phase-wise protest demanding action against those involved in the crime of rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant, a local.
A high-level team formed by the Home Minister to investigate into the incident had reached Bhimdattanagar on Friday Morning. RSS
