Visit aims at further promoting bilateral ties: Dahal

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said his ongoing India visit is aimed at further consolidating bilateral ties between Nepal and India.

During his discussions on Friday with Nepali migrants held at the New Delhi-based Nepali Embassy, the former Prime Minister said, “The visit aims to create atmosphere in favor of the development plan put forward by the government, implementation of the Nepal-India agreements and further strengthening of bilateral relations.”

Stating that a positive development had been seen in the Nepal-India bilateral relations, he said, “With the arrival of political stability, a strong government has been formed in Nepal while India has a majority government at the same time. Works are going on as per the policy of ‘neighor first’ floated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In this context, Nepal-India relations should be further consolidated, Nepal should realise the sensitivities of India and India too is expected to realise Nepal’s. needs, and help Nepal reduce its trade deficit.”

He went on saying that, during his meeting with India security officials, he seriously discussed the issues of interests concerning the Nepali community in India ranging from business community to daily wage earners.

He called on the Nepali Embassy’s charge d’ affaires and employees to work more actively and sensitively in the changing context. He thanked them for arranging his meeting with the Nepali Diaspora community who had requested leader Dahal for his initiations to curb the cross-border incidents.

As stated by Chair Dahal’s Secretariat, during the meeting, the leader was urged to make initiation to address the issues concerning their bank accounts, voters’ name list and insurance.

Leader Dahal who left here Thursday in course of his four-day visit to the southern neighbor held discussions with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval last evening. The discussions focused on further promoting growing mutual ties, taking the latest agreements and understandings reached between the two countries towards implementation phase, the Secretariat said.
