BP Senani Samman to Bastola and Ghimire

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The BP Koirala Memorial Trust has awarded Chakra Prasad Bastola and Rochak Ghimire with the BP Senani Samman and BP Literary Award respectively.

Organizing an event on Friday on the 105th birth anniversary of BP Koirala, the Trust conferred the awards on Nepali Congress leader Bastola and senior litterateur Ghimire in recognition of their contribution to the country’s politics and literature.
The BP Senani Samman carries a purse of Rs 51,000 and acopper plague, while the BP Literary Award Rs 100,000 and copper plaque.

The BP Senani Samman was received by Bastola’s spouse Kusum Bastola as leader Bastola is currently in unconscious state.

On the occasion, former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav asserted that the dream of the first democratically elected Prime Minister BP Koirala was coming true with the promulgation of the new constitution.

Stating that the hill, mountain and Terai should be linked and taken forward to safeguard democracy, Yadav affirmed that the country was moving ahead in the democratic path envisioned by the Nepali Congress.

Similarly, speaking at the programme, senior journalist Harihar Birahi lauded leader Bastola that he was a politician capable to manage various sides within the party. He claimed, “Bastola has also contributed significantly in making BP Koirala a successful politician.”

Likewise, Prof Dr Abhi Subedi commended the role of awarded Ghimire in the promotion of the literary journalism in the country. He stated, “Ghimire has significantly contributed in launching the literary aspect of BP Koirala to the public through journalism.”

The awardees expressed their happiness for acknowledging their respective contributions in the literature and politics of the country and conferring the awards on them that are established in the name of one of the founders of the Nepali Congress, BP Koirala.

President of the Trust Shree Harsha Koirala and Secretary-General Ramchandra Pokharel said that the Trust was bringing to fore the contributions made by various people in the country’s literature and politics. RSS
