‘Province govt committed to free press’
Kaski, Nov. 23 : Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung has expressed his commitment to press freedom on behalf of the province government.
At a policy-level interaction programme organized by Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kaski chapter on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the province government was committed to working by upholding press freedom in line with the laws, limitations and capacity.
“The Gandaki Province is working in mass media policy formulation. The province government has already prepared the draft of the mass media policy. Discussions were held about this in the council of ministers as well,” he shared.
According to Gurung, the mass media policy incorporates the security of the media house and media persons, their protection and issues of working journalists, thus addressing all key concerns.
On the occasion, President of FNJ Govinda Acharya asked for stakeholder consultations while preparing the mass media policy from the province and local governments. (RSS)
