Nepali Congress concerned over criminal case against NSU leaders
KATHMANDU, Feb 6: The major opposition Nepali Congress has expressed serious concern over the criminal case being filed against the leaders of Nepal Student Union, party’s student wing.
The central working committee meeting of the party on Wednesday demanded the government to immediately release the student leaders. They were arrested and the criminal case initiated based on some untoward incident in course of peaceful protest in Pokhara.
The meeting also thanked the district committees for conducting the massive peaceful protests on February 4.
Chief Secretary at the party central office, Krishna Prasad Poudel, informed that the party even thanked all media for disseminating the news relating to NC protest programs.
The party also expressed grave concern over the attack on party member Umesh Kapadi in Dhanusha by the communist party cadres.
Kapadi has been undergoing treatment in Biratnagar. The government has been demanded to take action against the assailants.
Various leaders including party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice-President Bimalendra Nidhi, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and others put forth their views in the meeting.
