Husband confesses to Sarita’s killing, police suspect hands of in-laws as well

KATHMANDU, May 7: Sarita Dahal Dulal of Sipaghat of Mandan Deupur municipality-6 whose lifeless body was found by the police on April 26 was murdered and other members of her family beside her husband were involved in her killing, police preliminary investigations show.

Sarita’s spouse Sudip has already admitted that he was involved in the crime, but the circumstances surrounding the incident indicate that other family members also colluded in it, District Police Office, Dhulikhel’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Giri Sarita’s father-in-law Pitambar Dulal, mother-in-law Ganga, brother-in-law Keshab and his wife Sangita are also in police custody for further investigations into the case.

Their remand had been extended by 10 days Monday. The dead body of Sarita, 25, was found with blue marks on her neck.

But, during the investigation, it was revealed that she was murdered the previous night (on April 25) and the family approached the police at 10:00 am in the following day claiming she had committed suicide.

The body found hung in the first floor of the house. But, Sarita’s elder brother Krishna Prasad Dahal of Chainpur of Mandan Deupur-4 sensed something wrong in the case and filed an FIR at the police on April 26, citing that she could have been murdered. Acting upon the FIR, the police arrested her husband and other members of the family the same day.

It is said that they were planning to leave the village when the police caught them. Local women staged a demonstration in front of the DPO, Dhulikhel on April 30 in a bid to exert pressure on the police for fair investigations into the case.

Sarita and Sudip married four years ago and the husband has been a mental patient for two years. Though the couple was staying on the ground floor of the house, they had a separate kitchen. Police said the post-mortem report showed that she was not killed by a single person. RSS
