OM Sterling Global University (OSGU), based on Hisar, Haryana of India is becoming dear among Nepali students seeking quality higher education abroad, within a short period of time.

Primarily founded as OM Group of Institutions with an aim to impart quality education in 2008, OSGU got affiliation under Haryana Private Universities Act 2006 as per the section 2F of University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956 of India in 2018.

OM Sterling is a multi-college university with well equipped modern infrastructural labs, air-conditioned library, gym, faculty residences and air-cooled hostel facilities for boys and girls, cultural centers—which imparts world class quality education in a sound and eco-friendly environment surrounded by lush green beautiful landscaping and elegant buildings. The university spreads over 47 hectares of land.

The university currently boasts more than 3000 students who hail from more than 20 countries including Nepal. At present more than 50 Nepali students are studying at the university.

One of the reasons, the OSGU is becoming a top choice for many students including Nepal is that the university provides education at affordable costs and offers attractive scholarship schemes.

Organizing a press conference at Reporters’ Club Nepal, University Chancellor Dr. Punit Goyal said that the university offers 25 percent scholarship to the students who achieve above 90 percent result.

“Similarly the students securing above 80 percent to 90 percent marks will receive 15 percent scholarship,” he added.

Goyal said that they have come to Nepal looking for Nepali students since Nepali students are very sincere who take their studies seriously.

“We have more than 50 Nepali students now. They are very sincere, intelligent and dedicated toward their study,” he added.

“The university also provides special attention toward weak students and as well as financial help to needy students.”


The OSGU offers Bachelor and Masters Degree courses on Engineering and Technology, Management and Finance, Architecture and Design, Agriculture and Advanced Sciences, Teacher Education, Para-Medical Sciences, Yoga and Naturopathy, Diploma/Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Ph.D.

Dean Marketing Head of the university, Raman Jit Singh said that Nepali students primarily choose courses like Diploma Engineering courses in Civil, CSE, EE, ME and ECE, Pharmaceutical Science, B. Sc Agriculture and Diploma in Health Assistants under Para-Medical Sciences.

According to University Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Devendra Pathak, the OSGU has industrial integrity since “the university is a partner in various industries—academia programs of reputed companies.”

The skill development programs are organized for students to enhance employability.

Dr. Pathak further said that OSGU also conducts personality development classes from Day 1 of the academic session.

Assistant Prof. Bijendra Rajaura said that OSGU hopes more enrolment of Nepali students in Haryana. “We expect more than 200 students joining OSGU this academic session,” he said.

The new academic session for 2019/20 begins in August.
