Govt to gift laptops to parliament members
KATHMANDU, June 11: The government is preparing to distribute one laptop to each of the 334 lawmakers (275 members of the House of Representatives and 59 members of the National Assembly) in a bid to change the parliamentary practice into a paperless system.
According to Parliament Secretariat Spokesperson Roj Nath Pandey, the laptops are being distributed to the MPs in order to save time and money spent in paper works such as printing and photocopying.
After the MPs get the laptops, they will be trained if needed.
The Secretariat has already issued a call for tenders for the laptops procurement.
