Cooperation committee formed to support construction of Gautam Buddha cricket stadium

MUGLIN, July 24: A 46-member committee has been formed to support the ongoing construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium at Bharatpur Metropolis-15, Rampur in Chitwan.

The committee was formed under the leadership of Ichhakamana rural municipality Chair Geeta Kumari Gurung on Tuesday.

The committee comprises elected people’s representatives, representatives from chamber of commerce and industry, political parties, social organizations and journalists.

Chair Gurung called for support from all sides for the construction of international cricket stadium which she said would be a shared glory of Chitwan district.

She also pledged to lend full support to the bid from the rural municipality.

On the occasion, Krishna Kumar Dallakoti, chair of District Coordination Committee Chitwan, said cooperation committees will be formed at all local governments of Chitwan for accomplishing the construction of cricket stadium.

Social campaigner and artist Sitaram Kattel, also the chairperson of Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation, said the construction of cricket stadium will be completed within two years.

He also asked for support from all sides to cherish the dream of constructing the international level cricket stadium.

Earlier, a 5001-member main cooperation committee was formed in Chitwan for the same purpose.

The rural municipalities, political parties, organizations, entrepreneurs and locals had already pledged their cooperation for the construction of cricket stadium.

The construction of cricket stadium was put on hold after a group of irate locals on 29 May dismantled some structures of stadium demanding road expansion.

The Foundation has resumed the work from 23 July after several rounds of public discussion and request from stakeholders. RSS
