Prachanda tells Ex-King Gyanendra not to daydream of reviving monarchy

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that the monarchy, which was overthrown by the people more than a decade ago, will not be restored in the country

Addressing a memorial assembly organized to commemorate the 21st death anniversary of martyr Suresh Wagle ‘Basu’ at the party central office on Monday, Dahal said conspiracies against the federal democratic republic were increasing in the country in the recent days.

“No need to daydream of what was abolished a long time ago,” he added while stressing the need to strengthen the republic and party unification.

Referring to the recent activities of former King Gyanendra and pro-monarchy supporters, he said, “A jackal sometimes howls near a lion’s den. But it has no comparison to a lion. A jackal always remains a jackal in front of a lion. The howling cannot revive what is already dead and buried in the cemetery.”

He also directed the party cadres to remain focused on making the party dedicated to the people’s service and acceptable to all.

“We have made the communist movement popular. We have got a popular mandate and have a majority government. However, we have degraded in terms of ideological and moral character. We tend to give importance to our self needs rather than the needs of the people,” he said.
