Nepali Congress demands Mahara’s resignation as Member of Parliament
KATHMANDU, OCT 1: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has asked former Speaker of the house Krishna Bahadur Mahara to resign from the parliament.
Congress leaders opined that the allegation of rape and outraging the modesty of a woman is unacceptable for an individual that is representing the Nepalese Parliament which has a dignity of its own.
It is a matter of extreme sadness said the leaders of Nepali Congress, and that their press release has demanded Mahara’s resignation from his position as Member of Parliament.
Earlier today Mahara had tendered his resignation from the post as the Speaker of the House in order to pave way for investigations into the matter as stated by his letter that he had released as part of his resignation.
