Chinese President Xi Jinping lands in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, Oct 12: President of People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping has arrived in Kathmandu for a two-day official state visit.
Xi arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:45 pm from Chhenai after wrapping up a two-day informal summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Xi was received by his counterpart President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the VVIP lounge.
Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and ministers are also at the airport to welcome the visiting President.
Xi and Bhandari will inspect a guard of honor at the TIA shortly before heading to Hotel Soaltee.
Xi will hold a bilateral meeting with his President Bhandari at Sitalniwas at 6:30 pm in the evening. He will then attend a banquet at Hotel Soaltee at 7:30 pm.
On Sunday Xi will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Oli. Following the meeting, both leaders will witness the signing of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Xi is also scheduled to meet Nepal Communist Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
He will leave for Beijing on 1:00 pm tomorrow.
