Founding President Mahato skips NRNA Global Convention



KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Founding President and Chief Patron of International Coordination Council of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Upendra Mahato has skipped the ninth NRNA Global Convention which began in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The convention, being held at the Hotel Hyatt Regency, was inaugurated by President Bidya Bhandari amid a special function.

Mahato missed out the meeting despite being in Nepal, it has been learned.

Mahato has been expressing dissatisfaction over the activities of the NRNA members, which according to him, are against the spirit of the association.

Mahato said he boycotted the convention because of political interference.

“It does not mean I am against the election. There is political interference in the election. Therefore I did not go to the convention,” he said.

The three-day conference, being participated by some 2500 representatives from 81 countries across the world, will elect a new leadership.
