Bus accident near Shankarpur leaves 3 Dead 25 injured



KATHMANDU: A bus headed to Kathmandu from Sindhupalchowk has met with an accident killing 3 individuals. The 3 died on the spot although the Nepal Police were present on the scene immediately after the accident.

The ill-fated bus headed out toward Kathmandu at 9.30 am in the morning from Sindhupalchowk. 2 females and 1 male are among the dead although their identification hasn’t been ascertained yet.

Two were crushed by the impact of the vehicle making it difficult to retrieve the bodies.

Rescue operations finally pulled all the bodies out and are on their way to the Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.

The 25 injured have been taken to various hospitals in the capital keeping in mind the severity of their injury. Some are being treated at Sushma Koirala Memorial while others have been taken to Nepal Medical College and the Teaching Hospital.

The bus of Helambu Travels numbered BA 5 KHA 5070 met with an accident on a sharp turn near Lapsifedi Shankarpur Municipality-4.

Buses are being overloaded with people returning back to the capital after the completion of the Tihar festivals. This bus is said to have carried 59 passengers extra than its given capacity, and the reason for the accident may be due to brake failure. The police are investigating the case.
