Nepal Police shoots and arrests kidnapper in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ , Nov 6: Nepal Police in Birgunj arrested a kidnapper after shooting him in the leg on Tuesday.

Police said they had opened fire at Raj Kumar Das, a resident of Pokhariya Municipality of Parsa district, as he was trying to escape.

Das had kidnapped the 14-year-old son of Amjad Khan, a resident of Sisirya, and had demanded a ransom of Rs 1.2 million to the parents.

When Das came to collect the ransom money, the police had tried to capture him. But, he tried to escape the scene pointing a gun at them, according to the police.

The child is safe, said the police.

Das who sustained a bullet in his right leg is receiving treatment in Narayani Hospital.
