Roop Jyoti released on court date
KATHMANDU, Nov 15: Renowned industrialist Roop Jyoti, who has been accused of duping a customer while selling the house, has been released on court date on Friday.
He was released from Metropolitan Poice Circle, Durbarmarga today afternoon after the Kathmandu District Attorney Office decided not to take action against him.
Jyoti was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Nov 7.
Earlier, the police have issued an arrest warrant against Jyoti based on the complaints filed by Bikendra Krishna Malla, a customer, who had accused Jyoti of involving in a housing fraud worth millions of rupees.
According to Jyoti, he had paid a sum worth Rs 27.5 million at different installments at Landmark Developers Private Limited while buying a house but he never got the house.
However, after Jyoti filed a writ against the arrest warrant, the court had stayed his arrest.
The court had then vacated the order, almost after a year, paving way for his arrest.
Jyoti, who has been reported to have owned the Landmark company, has denied any connection with the housing companies that have been listed as fraud.
