PM Oli inaugurates Upper Trishuli III A from Kathmandu



KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has inaugurated the Upper Trishuli III A hydropower Project on Monday.

PM Oli switched the power transmission from war room at his office in Kathmandu to inaugurate the 60 MW hydel project in Simla, Kispang Rural Municipality -5 while Minister Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun witnessed the inauguration ceremony at the construction site.

The hydropower project will now begin its first commercial generation after eight and a half years of its initiation in April 2011.

The project had started its first transmission from the first unit on May 17 while the other 30 MW was linked to the national transmission grid from the second unit on August 2.

The project will contribute eight percent to the total power consumed in the country.

It will produce 14, 40,000 units of electricity each day, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority.
