KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Nepal Communist Party parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nembang has clarified that Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will not be given the position of executive chairman anytime soon.

According to sources, Dahal, who wanted to split the premiership with Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli for equal periods of time, is now eying the position of the party leader.

Sources also claimed that Dahal and Oli had held a discussion on the matter but Oli is not ready to hand Dahal the responsibility.

“The party has no intention to give the position of executive chairman to anyone in the immediate future,” the former Speaker told Reporters’ Club Nepal.

Nembang also clarified that the party is not giving the post of Speaker to the former Maoist Center.

“No discussion in this regard has been held in the party,” he added.

The position of Speaker remains vacant after Krishna Bahadur Mahara stepped down in early Oct following the accusation of attempted rape by a female parliament staffer.

Various sources have laid claim that PM Oli is in the mood to repeat Nembang to the position.

Nembang further clarified that PM Oli will induct qualified aspirants to his cabinet when he reorganizes it.
