Disputed areas integral part of Nepal no possibility of letting go: Dr. Koirala



BIRATNAGAR: General Secretary of the main opposition Nepali Congress Party (NC) Dr. Shashank Koirala said that since the disputed areas of Kalapani and Lipulek are integrally a part of Nepal there is no possibility of letting go.

Dr. Koirala was speaking to journalists at the Biratnagar airport. NC has fully supported the government in order to resolve the border dispute without leaving an inch of land that rightfully belongs to us.

Dr. Koirala also said that the age factor in the student’s union election will be implemented after the convention and that the party was united and moving forward with changing times.

Dr. Koirala also spoke about the merger between the Madhesi Jaanadhikar Forum Loktantrik ( Madhesi People’s Rights Forum Democratic) and NC, where recommendations to the central committee of 11 members were being studied carefully.

He also said that it has not been decided as to whether he will run for the post of President of the NC in the coming convention.

When asked about disgraced NC leader Mohammad Aftab Alam, Dr. Koirala replied that since the matter is subjudice it was not an appropriate time to make any comments.  He said that “support for the NC is increasing in all political levels, and that it will be successful in the coming by-elections”.
