Nepal’s medal records at South Asian Games

South Asian Games

The South Asian Games has returned to Nepal after nine years. Nepal has hosted South Asia’s mega sporting event for two times–the first SAG was organized in Nepal in 1984 and the eighth SAG.

Nepal performance is the SAG has remained inconsistent winning only a few gold medals comparing to India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka except the 1999 edition–hosted in Kathmandu– when Nepal won the record 31 golds.

Nepal’s medal records in martial arts are quite satisfactory. Of the total 76 golds, martial alone has brought 59 gold medals (boxing 6, judo 4, karate 20, taekwondo 24 and wushu 5) for Nepal. Nepal has gold in football in the first and twelfth Games.

Here is a look at gold, silver and bronze medal winners from first to 12th SAG.
