Time for amending constitution: DPM Yadav

Constitution Amendment

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Upendra Yadav has said that the time has come to implement the agreement of constitution amendment.

The Upendra Yadav-led former Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) (now Samajbadi Party), before joining the government, had reached a two-point deal with ruling Nepal Communist Party in May last year, with the latter agreeing to address the issues and demands raised by FSFN in consensus by amending the constitution.

Yadav, after assuming his new office on Monday, reiterated that the ruling party must respect the agreement.

“Constitution amendment is a political issue. We are already agreed to amend the constitution. Time has come to implement the agreement,” said Yadav.

Prime Minister K P Sharma reorganizing his Council of Minister has assigned Yadav to Law Ministry from Health Ministry last week.

“Reshuffling the cabinet is the special right of the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Oli must have entrusted me with his new role and responsibility out of his love for me,” said Yadav.
