Ending 20 years long wait, Minu bags gold in boxing for Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal ends its 20-year wait to win gold in boxing. The 13th South Asian Games being held in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Janakpur sees Nepal create another milestone.

Minu Gurung beat India’s Shiksha in the Women’s bantam 54 kilograms (kg) category in the finals.

Nepal last won gold in boxing back in 1999 in the Men’s category by Prakash Thapa Magar and Ram Chandra Thapa Magar.

Nepal after 20 years wins gold this time through the valiant efforts of Minu Gurung.

9 Nepalese boxers have reached the finals, out of which 8 is against India.
