Bagmati water treatment facility to be inaugurated soon: Minister Magar

KATHMANDU: Minister of Water Resources Bina Magar inspected the premises and facility of the Bagmati’s wastewater treatment plant that is under construction in Gujeshwori.

Minister Magar also made it clear that the processing unit will be inaugurated soon.

Minister Magar stated that “since the treatment facility is in its final phases we will inaugurate the facility in the coming month. There is still work left in order to beautify the facility with a park, and this will take some time”.

The water treatment facility has been built at a cost of 2 billion and 600 million Nepalese rupees (NRs). Part of the funds was given by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as a loan amounting to 1 billion 407 million NRs.

The Government of Nepal (GoN) is planning to extract electricity, along with bi0-gas. The refinery will process 30.3 million liters of wastewater daily, informed Minister Magar.

The Minister also informed that the gas released from the treatment center can be converted to fuel. That fuel would help in the operations of 30% of the facility. On the occasion, Minister Magar also planted a tree on the premises of the facility.
