Unilateral decisions will put the NC through further division and a grave risk: Former DPM Ram Chandra Poudel
KATHMANDU: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress Party (NC) has dissented all the decisions taken by the central committee today.
Speaking to the President of the Reporters Club and senior journalist Rishi Dhamala, the former DPM said that the decisions taken by the central committee will take the party into further division and peril.
The central committee which included the faction close to the President of the NC and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was present on the occasion and decided to hold the general convention between February 19th to 22nd in 2021. This was what leader Poudel was against, as he had suggested the convention to be held by November 2020.
“The decision taken today will put the party at grave risk. Instead of being united it will lead to further division” he said.
NC President Deuba with backing from his faction had unilaterally declared the date for the general convention which vexed Poudel.
The decision to increase the departments from 28 to 41 is also said to be against the constitution of the NC informed Poudel. “We will not accept such unilateral decisions he warned, and he would not participate in the implementation of the department”.
Poudel also spoke about the mistake of not resolving the issue of the Nepal Students Union.
He is going to carry his dissent and dissatisfaction organizing a press conference at the residence of the general secretary of the NC Dr. Shashank Koirala as indicated.
