Paudel, Sitaula factions hold gathering in capital

Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: Dissatisfied factions of the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) led by Ram Chandra Paudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula have held a gathering in Sanepa today questioning party President’s Sher Bahadur Deuba’s leadership.

About 40 district presidents close to Paudel and Sitaula are participating in the gathering.

Paudel and Sitaula have blasted the party president’s recent decision to fix the date of the General Convention as “unilateral”.

A Central Working Committee meeting of the party, despite a boycott from Paudel faction, had decided to hold its 14th General Convention from February 19-22 next year while extending the term of the current committee for a year.

The gathering will pressure Deuba to correct the mistakes and follow the party statute.
